Late actor Rishi Kapoor, who was fondly called Chintu Ji' was one of the most loved and celebrated actors of Hindi Cinema. Known for his outspoken personality and blunt statements, he died on April 30 2020 after battling cancer. Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor exchanged wedding vows in 1980. Back in the 80s, the couple had worked together in many films and the audience loved their chemistry. A new revelation has come out from his biography where the late actor shared that he might have never married Neetu if it wasn’t for his sister Ritu Nanda.
Rishi Kapoor in his biography ‘Khullam Khulla’ revealed how his engagement with Neetu Kapoor was planned without his knowledge. In his biography, as quoted by Indian Express, the late actor had shared how his engagement took place. Rishi had said in the book, “Given how committed we were to each other, nobody could fathom why I wasn’t popping the question. He also mentioned how he was unsure and insecure about the fact that after marriage how his career will face downfall as he was the romantic hero of that time. The quotes from the book read, “I had serious misgivings about the effect of marriage on an actor’s longevity, given how Rajesh Khanna’s career went on a downward spiral post marriage. He said, “What if his story repeated itself with me since I was also a romantic hero and was marrying an actress? I often think I may never have married Neetu, or we may have got married much later than we did if it weren’t for my sister Ritu."
The Agneepath actor was unaware of all the planning her sister Ritu was doing for their engagement." I hadn’t a clue that Ritu had been plotting and planning along with my friends Gogi and Ravi Malhotra.” he added.
Rishi and Neetu Kapoor had shared spelled magic on the silver screen with films like Amar Akbar Anthony, Yaarana, Do Duni Chaar, to name a few.
