Bollywood filmmakers have been remaking international movies, copying scenes and even music for quite a few decades. Termed as ‘inspiration,’ in earlier times it was harder to point-out what was copied from where. However, with the emergence of social media and OTT platforms, the audiences have learnt to criticize every minute similarity they in the movies. In a time where people were boasting about making original content, Salman Khan and Rishi Kapoor had announced that they would be starring in an adaptation of Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman’s Rain Man.

Titled ‘Soutelay’, the movie was written by Salim khan and directed by Suresh Krishna. Announced in 1991, the duo was to star in the movie as step-brothers. For the unversed, the story of Rain Man follows the journey of two brothers, who get separated because the older one gets diagnosed with savant syndrome and FG syndrome. If reports are to be believed, Salman would reprise Tom’s character and Rishi Kapoor would essay the role of his older mentally-challenged brother, a character that was played by Hoffman. The announcement poster of the movie was released, however due to undisclosed circumstances the movie was shelved. While the movie didn’t see the light of the day, the 57-year-old actor did remake a part of the movie in his Subhash Ghai’s 2008 directorial Yuvvraaj. In the movie Salman and Anil Kapoor play estranged brothers, who come together after the death of their father.

Well, even if the duo didn’t get to play brothers on-screen, the late actor did play Bhaijaan’s estranged father in the movie Yeh Hai Jalwa.
