The actor had been bedridden for several months and became unresponsive in the last few days.

“The fluids accumulated in the pleural cavity had to be removed several times. He also suffered a drop in blood pressure and haemoglobin towards the end,” the doctor said.

“The cancer spread made it difficult to treat him."

The report further said, “He passed away at around 7.30 am. Saira Bano took immense care of him during his illness."

Another senior doctor said that Saira Bano had a team of 10 persons at home to treat him and a mini-ICU set up. "He used to be brought to PD Hinduja for blood transfusion when he complained of breathlessness and dialysis," the report added.

The social media has been abuzz with condolences ever since the sad news of the legend's demise broke out. Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, Lata Mangeshkar, and Dharmendra have all reacted to the news.
