Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge Clocks 26 Years: Kajol Once Said Aditya Chopra Was Disgusted With Her Over A Scene
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge doesn’t need any introduction. The movie is considered as one of the best romantic films ever made in Indian cinema, and it continues to have a great run on television too - even after 26 years of release. It was only recently that it was pulled down from Maratha Mandir in Mumbai (and that too, due to the shutdown of theatres across the nation) and that speaks of its magic and impact on this generation on cinegoers.

The cult classic, starring Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan, has completed 26 years of its release today. The team, headlined by Aditya Chopra, had great fun during filming this movie. SRK and Kajol have always spoken about how they enjoyed the shoot. We stumbled across an old interview, where Kajol revealed how one particular scene had left director Aditya Chopra disgusted with her. According to the director, the actress just could not bring the right amount of sensuality to it.

Kajol made the revelation when she was asked about the most difficult shot from the movie. She told Filmfare, “The shot where I have to describe my dream guy with passages of poetry. I pick up a dupatta and say, 'Saaya sa lehrata hai'. It was supposed to look sensuous… but the dupatta just wouldn’t fall properly. I just couldn’t get the ada right. Adi was so disgusted with me. Even now the shot lacks something.”

Kajol played Simran Singh, who meets Shah Rukh Khan as Raj Malhotra during her trip to Europe and falls in love with him.

When asked how close she is to her character she portrayed in DDLJ, Kajol said, “I didn't feel close to Simran at all. Whatever I did stemmed from my imagination and from what I know about some of my friends who are like her. My acting was a pre-thought-out reaction. I must have met 120 girls like Simran, girls who have fallen in love... but they have not always seen a happy ending like the character did in the film.” ALSO READ: Kabhie Kabhie, Silsila, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge And More To Be Screened Again In Theatres To Celebrate 50 Years Of YRF
