Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge To Continue Screening At Maratha Mandir In Its Matinee Show From October 22-Report
One of the most iconic Hindi films, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is all set to return to Maratha Mandir as theatres reopen in Mumbai from October 22. Fans of DDLJ were worried that the cinema’s Executive Director Manoj Desai won't screen the movie again as theatres reopen. But much to their relief, the movie will continue to screen at the cinema hall.

An ETimes report said that Mumbai’s Maratha Mandir will continue to screen the movie in its matinee show. Maratha Mandir’s executive director Manoj Desai explained that he suffered major losses post-March 2020 owing to the Covid-19 outbreak. He also confirmed they would continue DDLJ in Maratha Mandir. “I am continuing ‘DDLJ’ in Maratha Mandir pehle jaisa hi,” Desai told ETimes.

Desai was also asked if he is expecting a regular decent-to-good turnout for this movie like he had in the pre-COVID phase. “Well, a lot of questions will be answered in October-November-December. Does the public return to theatres for new films? Does the public stay glued to the OTT space? Nothing can be said for now, but let’s view everything with an optimistic lens for now,” he explained.

For the unversed, DDLJ is the longest-running film in the history of Indian cinema and had run for over 25 years in the Maratha Mandir theatre of Mumbai. However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the theatres were shut and the movie was pulled off.

DDLJ stars Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in the lead; and the late Amrish Puri, Farida Jalal, Anupam Kher, Mandira Bedi and Parmeet Sethi in pivotal roles. The movie was directed by Aditya Chopra, and is still considered one of the best romantic movies to ever have been made in Indian cinema.
