Karan Johar is known for launching fresh faces in the film industry and a majority of his discoveries have managed to make a mark in Bollywood. The list includes Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor among others. Now, the filmmaker cum producer is all set to launch yet another budding talent - Lakshya - in his upcoming gay comedy, Dostana 2. An official announcement for the same was made today, with Karan Johar unveiling him as the new kid on Dharma block.

And with Karan Johar having an unforgettable past with the term ‘nepotism’, a lot of people raised questions on Lakshya’s identity and assumed him to be one of the star kids, who got it easy. However, the Takht filmmaker has now come forward to clear the air. In his latest tweet, Karan Johar has revealed that Lakshya has got no connections in the film industry and that he went through the entire audition process to bag his role. “Yes, I woke up to several inquiries asking about his film industry connections!!! He is NOT from the business and went through a legit audition process!! Am grateful to Shanoo Sharma for introducing LAKSHYA to Dharma Movies,” wrote the filmmaker.

It turns out that Lakshya is a TV actor, who played the role of Porus in a show that went by the same name. Karan Johar, in his statement, said, “We believe in introducing new talent to the film fraternity. We are proud to have introduced over 20 first-time filmmakers and seven actors in the recent past. We are excited to introduce Lakshya, the newest addition to the family. We will be introducing him in Dostana 2. He was chosen after a series of meticulous auditions and test shoots. We are thrilled to engulf him in our creative world and look forward to creating celluloid magic together.”

Dostana 2 also stars Janhvi Kapoor and Kartik Aaryan in the lead roles, it is going to helmed by Collin D-Cunha.
