Dussehra 2018: 5 Films Which Portray The Win Of Good Over Evil
Dussehra marks the end of evil and negativity around us. On this auspicious festival, we bring to you list of 5 such films which reflect the spirit perfectly
From time immemorial, Bollywood Films have been showing
good win over evil. It's something that resonates so well with the festival of
Durga Pooja or Dussehra which signifies the triumph of goodness. Here's taking
a look at 5 films which showcase this aspect brilliantly:
-Daamini (1993): A
woman-centric film which showed the lead actress, Meenakshi Sheshadri, in a
dilemma about ensuring justice to her house help who was raped by her
brother-in-law. Her husband’s family forces her to not speak the truth but she
finds support from an ex-advocate, who helps her get justice for the woman.
-Lajja (2001): Four women who are victims of male
chauvinism and have been tortured in different ways—from domestic violence to
rape, fight for their rights against the society. The film ends with the
victory of women over all evil.
- Raavan (2010): The story of Lord Ram killing
Raavan in Ramayana was given a modern day twist in this Mani Ratnam movie.
Portrayed brilliantly by Abhishek Bachchan and Vikram, this movie shows how
goodness always is two steps ahead of the evil.
- Kahaani (2011): In an unknown city of
Kolkata, Vidya Balan's character goes through a lot of troubles and concocts a
cock-and-bull story to deceive some of the top ranking officers of the Indian
intelligence bureau. Her motive was nothing other than to find the person who
killed her husband. She finds him and manages to end his life on the tenth day
of Durga Pooja. A worthy culmination of the evil.
- Ram Leela (2013): Heavy on guns and roses, this
Sanjay Leela Bhansali magnum opus ends with a bang during the festivities of
Dussehra. Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, despite being so much in love,
can't express it to each other as they are heading two opposite gangs. However
it's their love that wins over everyone at the end as they end their own lives
to prove that war was not the answer - love was.
