Divyenndu and Kunal Kemmu, along with Avinash Tiwary sat down with SpotboyE to exclusively talk about their film Madgaon Express and its shooting process
Divyenndu, Pratik Gandhi, and Avinash Tiwary continue to steal hearts with their portrayal of Dodo, Pinku, and Aayush. Debutant director Kunal Kemmu is on cloud nine as the netizens haven’t stopped praising the film ever since it was released on March 22, 2024. The movie also boasts an ensemble star cast with actors like Nora Fatehi, Remo Dsouza, Upendra Limaye, and Chhaya Kadam among many others. The director along with Divyenndu and Avinash recently sat down with SpotboyE for an exclusive chat where they opened up about the concept of a trio and the filmmaker’s plan to make a sequel to the movie.
During a conversation with SpotboyE, when asked if they too have a trio in their life, like it is shown in the movie, the Mirzapur actor stated that the concept of three friends has been deeply ingrained in us through our culture. He shared, “Yeh joh trio ki baat hai, yeh normal baat nahi hai, yeh deep down ingrained hai humare sanskriti, humare culture mein. Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh - toh wahan se hi sab kuch utpan hota hai. Toh yeh joh teen hai, jiska bhi teen ka aankda banta hai na, they should find it very lucky. Mere life mein bhi aise hai.” ALSO READ: EXCLUSIVE! The debutant director went on to add that friends in a group of three often tend to get into trouble due to the confidence the third one brings. He said, “I think woh joh kahavat hai na, teen tigada kaam bigada, woh issiliye hota hai, kyuki jab do log hote hai na toh ek shaayad dusre ko convince karle. Lekin jab teesra point of view aata hai na wahaan se kalesh shuru hota hai. I think filmon mein bhi woh ‘three stooges’ the toh jo kalesh teen mein hota hai woh shayad do mein utna nahi hota.” ALSO READ: Madgaon Express New Dialogue PROMO OUT: Kunal Kemmu's Directorial Promises Fun, Action And Heavy Dose Of Laughter - WATCH
Divyenndu went on to add, “I think teesra aadmi joh hai na woh unwanted himmat de deta hai joh uss situation mein nahi chahiye hoti hai. Kyunki do mein ek keheta hai ki ‘arrey yaar bahut andhera hogaya chal na jaate hai,’ dusra bolega, ‘nahi milega. Na bus milega, no auto milega reh jaate hai. Okay.’ Teesra hoga toh woh bolega, ‘arrey chalte hai na, kya hogaya. Apan teen hai.’ Ab woh jaise hi teen bante hai na aap launch ho jaate ho life mein.”
Kemmu went on to recall a scene from the movie where Dodo says that they will travel to Goa by train, Pinku says that he doesn’t want to go by train as he is allergic to everything and then Aayush says ‘tu sleeping pills kha ke soja, dekhte hai kya hota hai.’
Further in the interview, Divyenndu opened up about the beauty of Madgaon Express’ script and credited Kunal for giving all the characters beautiful story arcs. While talking about how he would have loved to portray any character in the film, even a small role like Ganpath as “jitna bhi chota role ho, uska itna big impact hai,” The 40-year-old actor went on to jokingly mention that he could’ve even directed the film and cast Kunal in Dodo’s role.
He went on to add that “Second film ke liye humari baat bhi chal rahi hai, ho sakta hai mein direct karoon.” Talking about a possible sequel to the film, Kunal revealed that they are working on it and he wants to make sure that he stays true to the character personalities.
