Famous Indian poet-lyricist Nida Fazli dies at 78
Nida Fazli (born Muktda Hassan), who is best-remembered for his many collaborations with the late ghazal singer Jagjit Singh, passed away due to a heart-attack in Mumbai. He was 78.

Essentially an Urdu poet known for his legendary Mushairas, Fazli grabbed attention of the Indian film industry when his literary contributions appeared in magazines like Blitz and Dharmayug.

The poet then went on to have an illustrious career in Hindi cinema, although he led a largely reclusive life. Some of his recent memorable songs include Hosh Walon Ko Khabar Kya from Sarfarosh and Aa Bhi Ja from Sur. He also wrote songs for Yash Chopra's Silsila and completed work on Kamal Amrohi's Razia Sultan after the film's original lyricist Jan Nisar Akhtar passed away.

In 1998, he was honored by the Sahitya Akademi and in 2013, he was awarded the Padma Shri by the Indian government.
