Gadar Sequel In The Works; Sunny Deol-Ameesha Patel Likely To Star In The Film
18 years after the successful Gadar: Ek Prem Katha released, the makers are planning on its sequel and reportedly, it will take the story ahead with the same star cast
In the year 2001, Anil Sharma’s Gadar: Ek Prem Katha starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel released and went on to become a blockbuster, minting more than Rs 250 crore at the box-office. Now, 18 years later, the makers are planning on its sequel.
According to a report in news agency PTI, the story of Tara Singh (Sunny Deol), Sakeena Ali Singh (Ameesha Patel) and their son Charanjeet will move ahead with the Indo-Pak angle. The source was quoted saying, “We have been working on 'Gadar' sequel since 15 years. 'Gadar' will be story of Tara (Sunny), Sakeena (Ameesha Patel) and Jeet (their son). The story will move ahead with India-Pakistan angle, 'Gadar' is incomplete without it. The cast will remain same, like how we have seen in films like 'Baahubali', 'Rambo, 'Fast and Furious', etc. We have discussed the idea with Sunny. We can't disclose anything at the moment.”
Anil Sharma had earlier told to DNA, “My son, Utkarsh, who played the role of Sunny’s son in Gadar, has grown up into a fine young man and of course, there would be Sunny. There is no reason why we shouldn’t consider a sequel, but I will consider starting work on that, the moment I wrap up Genius."
On the movie front, Sunny Deol was last seen in Behzad Khambata’s Blank that starred Dimple Kapadia’s nephew Karan, Karanvir Sharma and Ishita Dutta. Ameesha Patel was last seen in Bhaiaji Superhit alongside Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Arshad Warsi and Shreyas Talpade.
