After giving back-to-back hits and winning hearts with her powerpack performances in films, Alia Bhatt is all set for her latest release 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' helmed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Ahead of the release, the film has landed in controversy. Gangubai’s adopted son Baburao Shah and granddaughter Bharti are unhappy with the way makers have turned the character into a prostitute.
Talking to Aaj Tak, Baburao slammed the makers and said, "My mother has been turned into a prostitute. People are now saying inexplicable things about my mother."
Gangubai’s granddaughter also expressed her anger and claimed that they have defamed the family out of greed for money. She said, "The makers have defamed my family out of greed for money. It cannot be accepted. You did not ask for the family's consent before going ahead with the project. Adding to that, Bharti also said that her grandmother adopted four children and worked for the upliftment of the sex workers in Kamathipura throughout her life but makers have portrayed her image of a social activist into a prostitute.
On one hand, Alia Bhatt is getting accolades from the fans and film fraternity for her stellar act seen in the trailer. The film is slated to hit the silver screens on 25th February.
