Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, starring Janhvi Kapoor and Pankaj Tripathi in the lead roles was one of the most anticipated films of the year. The film, helmed by Sharan Sharma and produced by Dharma Productions finally released yesterday on Netflix. While the film received positive reviews overall, the Indian Air Force (IAF), in a letter addressed to the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC), expressed its displeasure over the negative portrayal in Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl.

The letter by IAF stated that while Karan Johar’s Dharma Production had agreed to represent Indian Air Force (IAF) with authenticity, certain scenes and dialogues were found to portray the IAF in an ‘undue negative light.’ In the letter, they addressed that Dharma Productions was informed about the objectionable portions, and were advised to delete them. However, the production house did not delete the scenes, and had proposed to insert a disclaimer in the film, claimed the letter.

While Karan Johar had earlier faced the heat by Netizens amid nepotism debate, KJo was once again slammed by Netizens after this letter by the IAF. Social media users started using certain hashtags and were furious about it. Check out some of the reactions below:



Meanwhile, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl is based on the life story of Gunjan Saxena, who was the first woman combat aviator to fly into a war zone during the 1999 Kargil War. The film was lauded by many on social media, and especially loved Pankaj Tripathi’s performance in the film.
