The 54th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) kicked off on November 20, 2023, at the Shyama Prasad Mookerjee Stadium in Goa. It will go on for the next nine days. Held yesterday in Goa, the glittering ceremony kicked off in style as stars danced their way into cinephiles' hearts.

Day 1 of the event saw Shahid Kapoor in top form and shelled out some killer moves on the stage. Making a dramatic entry on a bike, the actor danced robustly to his hit songs from 'Kabir Singh' and 'Udta Punjab'.

Seasoned actress and dancer Madhuri Dixit was another star performer of the night and she personified grace as she performed her popular dance numbers from 'Devdas' and other iconic films. She even bagged honours for her contribution to Indian cinema. In her acceptance speech, she spoke about how IFFI was an emotion and that she felt incredibly privileged to receive the honour at a platform that celebrates cinema.

Actress Nushratt Bharuccha set the stage on fire with her energetic dance moves. The actress paired white sneakers with a Tiffany blue bustier and skirt while offering the performance of the year.

Bollywood producer, director, and chat show host Karan Johar along with Sara Ali Khan stole the show as they introduced the motion poster of their upcoming film 'Ae Watan Mere Watan' to the audiences. The film stars Sara as the lead, and it will be released on Amazon Prime Video early next year.

The film narrates the story of a young woman who becomes a freedom fighter during India's Independence era. "It's a story that will compel you to stand up for your rights," said Johar at the ceremony.

IFFI 2023, one of the prestigious events in India, will feature 270 films from around the globe over the next 8 days. Masterclasses with talents including Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Sara Ali Khan, Sunny Deol will be held on the sidelines.
