Karan Johar and Sara Ali Khan have stirred up a storm on the internet as they unveiled the first motion poster of their upcoming film, 'Ae Watan Mere Watan', at the 54th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), which is currently being held in Goa.
The film is reported to be a thriller drama headlined by Sara Ali Khan and she will be seen playing the role of a freedom fighter, Usha Mehta.
KJo and Sara took to their respective social media handles on Monday morning, November 21, 2023, to share the new motion poster of Ae Watan Mere Watan. In the poster Sara’s charater is seen speaking into a microphone.
Sharing the clip Sara wrote, "Aazad aawazein, qaid nahi hoti. Presenting the motion poster of a film very very dear to my heart. A story of bravery that I believe deserves to be told- and I’m honoured to be a part of that telling. #AeWatanMereWatanOnPrime, coming soon only on @primevideoin (sic)."
Interestingly, the motion poster was released at the opening ceremony of IFFI 2023. Singer Sukhwinder Singh also accompanied them on stage to perform a song from the movie. He won hearts with his soulful performance of the patriotic track 'Qatra Qatra'.
Ae Watan Mere Watan is a thriller-drama that is inspired by true events and it follows the intrepid journey of a college girl in Bombay, who goes on to become a freedom fighter. It is directed by Kannan Iyer.
'Ae Watan Mere Watan' is set against the backdrop of the Quit India Movement in 1942. The film is bankrolled by Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta, with Somen Mishra serving as the co-producer. The movie is set to premiere on Prime Video.
