Indu Sarkar Controversy: Bombay High Court To Hear Sanjay Gandhi's Alleged Daughter’s Plea Asking For A Stay On The Film

The Bombay High Court has agreed to hear a petition filed by Sanjay Gandhi's alleged daughter, Priya Singh Paul on Monday, July 24. She claims that Madhur Bhandarkar's upcoming film Indu Sarkar shows her father in a bad light, and therefore is requesting a stay on the film. She even demands that the factual portion in the film be deleted in its entirety and the CBFC should also be taken under purview for having granted a certification to the film.

“The film is scheduled to release on Friday (July 28) and hence the petition needs to be heard as early as possible. Bhandarkar had in a television debate said that the film is 30% fact and 70% fiction. He should edit the film and delete the 30% part,” said Paul’s lawyer Tanveer Nizam.
You may recall that Madhur has agreed to put a disclaimer stating that the events depicted in it have been ‘dramatised’.
For those who have come in late, Priya Singh Paul (48) claims she was adopted as a baby and was told only after she grew up that her biological father was Sanjay Gandhi. With Madhur Bhandarkar's Indu Sarkar set during the time of Emergency (1975-77), Priya has come forward and claimed that Sanjay Gandhi has been shown in a bad light. It is said that during the time of emergency, a lot of political power suddenly went into the hands of Sanjay Gandhi, and he wielded tremendous influence on the administration during the extremely hostile political environment.
