The Kapoors’ Christmas lunch is one of the most cherished annual events of the family. The tradition was started by Shashi Kapoor’s wife, Jennifer Kendal, over 3 decades ago and continues to go strong. This year too, the family came together to celebrate the festival.

Kareena Kapoor Khan walked in with husband Saif Ali Khan and son Taimur. Karisma Kapoor came with children - Samaira Kapur and Kiaan Raj Kapur. Making a late appearance was Ranbir Kapoor who was accompanied by good friend, Ayan Mukerji. Also seen at the party were Randhir Kapoor, Babita, Armaan Jain and Zahan Kapoor among others.



Missing from the annual event were Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor. The couple is in New York where Rishi is being treated for an unknown illness. Riddhima Kapoor took to Instagram to post a picture of herself with her mother in NYC.


Karisma shared a family picture from the lunch and captioned it, “Christmas Lunch, the tradition continues... Thank you #kunalkapoor @zahankapoor @shairakapoor for always being fabulous hosts. Missed all our family members who couldn’t make it today," she posted.



Talking about the tradition, Randhir told Bombay Times, “Papa believed that the show must go on, and we’re following his words. Life goes on, come what may. So, we all gathered for the annual brunch, like every other year and had a great time together. It has been a family ritual for decades now, so there was no reason for us to not do it this year, too. Yes, we missed our mother and Shashi uncle at the dining table. We really missed seeing Rishi and Neetu, too, but nothing ever stops us from celebrating life and the moments that we’re blessed to have with each other. We Kapoors are together, in our joys and our sorrows. We’ve never let our spirits get dampened by anything, because that’s not how we’ve been taught to look at life.”

Kapoor Family Had A Great Time During Christmas

Elaborating on how he hopes future generations carry forward the tradition, he added, “I just wish that the traditions that our elders had lovingly started are carried forward by the generations to come. I just hope that the younger kids follow our customs, traditions and rituals with the same enthusiasm as us. On Christmas, with the festive cheer in the air, I just pray that the next generation of Kapoors is also close-knit and loving towards each other at all times, and follows the mantra – the show must go on.”
