#InternationalTeaDay: When Anushka Sharma Hit Back At Farokh Engineer’s Claim Of Selectors Serving Her Tea
Back in October 2019, Anushka Sharma took a stand against the digs taken at her, and hit back at the accusation that she was seen being served tea by the selectors during the 2019 World Cup. Former Team India cricketer Farokh Engineer had claimed that the selectors were serving her tea during the World Cup. It’s International Tea Day today, and we were reminded of this incident that took place last year. Anushka, who isn’t known for being very vocal about rumours and reports about her, broke her silence over this and released a statement on social media.

Clarifying once and for all, she wrote a lengthy statement in which she not only addressed these claims but also recalled other controversies where she was blamed for Kohli’s bad form in 2014. Speaking about Farokh Engineer’s claims, she wrote, “The latest version of these ill-intended lies is that I was being served tea by selectors during the World Cup! I came to one game during the World Cup and sat in the family box and not the selectors box as reported but when has the truth mattered when it’s about convenience!”

It further stated, “If you have a comment on the selection committee and their qualifications please do so as it’s your opinion but do not drag me into it to substantiate your claim or sensationalize your opinion. I refuse to allow anyone from using my name in such conversations.”

Farokh Engineer later apologized and speaking on a TV channel, he said that he just said it in jest and people are making a mountain out of a molehill. Farokh added that she is a lovely girl and has been dragged into it without any reason.
