Today, we woke up to the heartbreaking news of Irrfan Khan’s untimely demise. The actor, who was recently admitted to Kokilaben Ambani Hospital, passed away at 53 after battling a colon infection. His death has brought the film industry to a halt, as celebrities from various fields are offering prayers for the legendary actor’s departed soul. Some time ago, a video of Irrfan Khan’s deceased body being taken in an ambulance for his funeral were doing the rounds on social media. Now, it has been confirmed that it happened at 3 PM at Mumbai’s Versova.
Now, a couple of pictures that have surfaced on the internet show Irrfan Khan’s sons and his filmmaker friends Tigmanshu Dhulia and Vishal Bhardwaj present at his funeral. As per reports, only 20 family members were permitted to enter the cemetery. The last rites commenced at 3 PM today. We are touched with the fact that despite the Coronavirus lockdown restrictions, Irrfan’s dear friends from the film industry turned up to honour their good friend for the last time.
An official statement from Irrfan’s family read, “Irrfan was buried at the Versova kabrastan in Mumbai at 3pm this afternoon soon after the news of his passing away was announced. In presence were his family, close relatives and friends. Everyone paid their final respects and mourned the loss of his passing away. We pray for his peace and we hope he’s in a better place today. He was strong in his fight, and we all have to be strong too in this loss.”
