Irrfan Khan dies after battling neuroendocrine cancer for a few years. He died on April 29, 2020. He was admitted to Kokilaben Hospital after his health deteriorated. His death has left all his fans in shock.

Irrfan Khan Passes Away After Putting Up A Brave Fight Against Cancer
Bollywood has lost one of its finest gems - Irrfan Khan. The actor who delivered a spectacular performance in each film is no more. He had been battling with Neuroendocrine Cancer for a few years and today, he lost his battle. Irrfan was 53. He had flown to London for surgery and it was successful. He came back to Mumbai and his film Angrezi Medium also got released. However, he suffered a colon infection a few days back and was admitted to Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai.

Irrfan Khan who was born in Jaipur started his acting career with Television. He was a part of Doordarshan's shows like Chanakya, Shrikant, and more. He also appeared as a villain in a series called Darr. His first film was Ek Doctor Ki Maut. Though the film was critically acclaimed, it went unnoticed. In the following years, most of Irrfan's films went unnoticed until he did The Warrior in 2001. Later, he featured in Maqbool that also gave him the critical acclaim. Irrfan Khan had quite an exemplary filmography to his credit with films like Rog, Metro, Paan Singh Tomar, Hindi Medium, Piku, Life In A Metro, Haider, Talvar and many more registered in his name.

Not just in Bollywood, Irrfan also made a big name for himself Hollywood. With his Life of Pi, Irrfan went on to become a popular face in the West. He also featured in films like Slumdog Millionaire, Inferno, Jurassic Park, The Amazing Spiderman and more.

The official statement on his death reads, "“i trust, i have surrendered”; These were the some of the many words that Irrfan expressed in a heart felt note he wrote in 2018 opening up about his fight with cancer. And a man of few words and an actor of silent expressions with his deep eyes and  his memorable actions on screen. It’s saddening that this day, we have to bring forward the news of him passing away. Irrfan was a strong soul, someone who fought till the very end and always inspired everyone who came close to him. After having been struck by lightning in 2018 with the news of a rare cancer, he took life soon after as it came and he fought the many battles that came with it. Surrounded by his love, his family for whom he most cared about, he left for heaven abode, leaving behind truly a legacy of his own. We all pray and hope that he is at peace. And to resonate and part with his words he had said, “As if I was tasting life for the first time, the magical side of it”.


Irrfan served the acting industry for more than thirty years and his death has left a void that can never be filled. Irrfan, for his contribution to cinema, was also awarded Padma Shri in the year 2011. He was considered to be one of the most versatile actors Bollywood has ever produced and his death has come as a great loss to the film fraternity. May his soul rest in peace.
