Javed Akhtar Reveals What He Would Say To His Kids Zoya And Farhan Akhtar, If He Found Out They Used Charas And Ganja
With the film industry coming under the scanner amid Narcotics Control Bureau’s probe into alleged drug links, Javed Akhtar now opened up about what he would tell his kids Zoya and Farhan Akhtar if he found out they consumed Charas and Ganja
As the Narcotics Control Bureau was investigating the drugs link in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, upon further investigation, several Bollywood names surfaced in the alleged drugs link. Bollywood actresses Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor, Rakul Preet Singh were summoned by the NCB, and the film industry came under the scanner amid NCB’s probe into alleged drug links. Now, Javed Akhtar now opened up about what he would tell his kids Zoya and Farhan Akhtar if he found out they consumed Charas and Ganja.
While speaking to journalist Barkha Dutt, Javed Akhtar said that ‘charas’, and ‘ganja’ are ordinary things that can be found outside colleges, and that they shouldn’t be confused with other drugs such as cocaine and LSD. He said that he has never heard of any person committing murder after smoking marijuana. However, when asked as to what he would tell his kids Zoya and Farhan Akhtar if he found out that they were using ganja and charas, Javed Akhtar said that he would tell them not to do it, and that it isn’t right.
“But they are grown-ups. It’s like when I gave up alcohol in 1991, and haven’t taken a sip since then. I used to drink every day. I have come to the conclusion that if you have any kind of intoxication, it can harm you,” he added. Javed Akhtar also said that if he comes to know his kids were smoking marijuana, he would tell them they shouldn’t be going this. “If she listens to me that’s fine, but if she doesn’t, she’s a grown-up girl. It’s the same with my son,” he said.
Javed Akhtar said that it isn’t such a big issue, and while people do it, it is bad for their health. Speaking on whether marijuana should be legalized, he said that he would be indifferent even if it were to be legalized, or even if were to stay banned.
