Acclaimed lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar turned 75 years old today and began his birthday celebrations a little early. He threw a birthday bash last night, and several members from the film fraternity and Bollywood celebrities attended it. However, it was no ordinary bash, and celebs who attended the bash went all the way back to the ‘70s. The theme for the night was Bollywood retro and was attended by Shabana Azmi, Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao,  Anil Kapoor, Boney Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, Manish Malhotra, Divya Dutta, and others last night.

For the unique birthday party, celebs came prepared and dressed as retro film stars of cult classic films. Javed Akhtar donned a red shirt with white polka dots, Shabana Azmi looked glam in a  red dress with polka dots, a denim jacket, with a red headband, acing the retro look. Divya Dutta looked gorgeous as she dressed as Rekha from the film Mukkaddar Ka Sikander. Aamir Khan attended the birthday bash with wife Kiran Rao. Farah Khan, Ashutosh Gowariker and his wife Sunita, Urmila Matondkar, Divya Khosla, Satish Kaushik, Ritesh Sidhwani with wife Dolly Sidhwani, also attended the party. Check out the pictures below:

Javed Akhtar, in an interview with IANS recently opened up about turning 75 and said that feels like there’s a lot he still has to do. He could write more poetry, lyrics, and scripts. He said, “I can associate myself with causes in which I believe in. I can speak my mind at different panel discussions so that I can bring in a change in people's mindset.”
