Jaya Bachchan Recalls Her Embarrassing Experience With Periods, Reveals She Used To Change Sanitary Pads Behind Bushes While Shooting Outdoors
Jaya Bachchan on her granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda's podcast revealed she used to change her sanitary pads behind bushes on outdoor shoots!
Veteran actress Jaya Bachchan has made some candid and shocking confessions on her granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda's podcast ‘What The Hell Navya’. The actress has shared her views on many aspects of female health and wellness including topics like menopause, period stories, and sex education. In its latest episode ‘Biology: Blessed But Biased,’ Jaya shared her period experience while working on outdoor shoots for films and revealed she used to face a lot of difficulty in changing sanitary pads on sets.
On her podcast, Navya asked Jaya about her first-period experience. The Sholay actress told her that during her early acting career, there was a lack of basic amenities like toilets and vanity vans and thus she had to struggle to change pads on the sets. Jaya went on to reveal she used to change her sanitary pads behind bushes on outdoor shoots. The actress said, “It was terrible (having periods during shoot). When we used to do outdoor shoots, we had no (vanity) vans, we had to change behind bushes… It is crazy. There were not even enough toilets, you had to go on a field or a mountain top. It was awkward, it was embarrassing.”
The 74-year-old actress also reflected back on her teenage days and mentioned that when she was young, she used sanitary towels which would be tied with belts or tape.
