Deepika Padukone’s decision to visit the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has brewed a storm across the internet. She stepped in to stand in solidarity with the students after a horrendous mob attack had taken over the JNU premises on Sunday night. As a consequence of the same, many students and teachers were injured and a lot of its property was destroyed. Well, it was indeed very brave of Dippy to take such risky action, especially ahead of her film Chhapaak’s release. While she is being criticised by a section of the internet, there has also been a lot of people, including celebrities, which can’t stop showering praises on the actress.
The most recent B-townie to laud Deepika is Kartik Aaryan, who shared his opinion in an interview with Bollywood Hungama. “Of course, I respect what Deepika did yesterday and I hope a lot of people would stand up and a lot of citizens should come ahead and talk about it. Strict actions are needed. The way these things are happening, this is not our country, these things should not happen here. I really hope strict actions are taken,” said Kartik Aaryan. He also expressed his disappointment over the fact that the Delhi Police hasn’t arrested the culprits yet. This brave woman will face immense hate and criticism for standing up against a fascist regime. Today, she deserves all our prayers, love and respect. 👏🏽❤️💪🏽❤️ pic.twitter.com/fh1gu5KlqZ
In other news, Rekha Sharma, Chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW), recently saw Chhapaak in a special screening and she couldn’t stop raving praises over the film’s story and performances. "Chhapaak will make others aware of the suffering of acid attack survivors. It is a beautiful movie because it will give people the strength to fight against this menace. Thank you to the team for taking up this subject and making such a beautiful movie,” said Rekha. In fact, the entire team of Chhapaak received a huge round of applause and standing ovation by the members of NCW present at the screening.
Chhapaak releases on January 10, 2020.
