Kangana Ranaut Comes Out In Support Of Shabana Azmi After She Questioned People Demanding A Ban On ‘The Kerala Story’
Veteran actress Shabana Azmi recently tweeted against people demanding a ban on ‘The Kerala Story.’ In her tweet, she said it is wrong to demand a ban after the film has been passed by the Central Board of Film Certification. Surprisingly, Kangana Ranaut has extended her support to the veteran actress calling her opinion a 'valid point'. Directed by Sudipto Sen, ‘The Kerala Story’ has sparked a controversy with the people of the state opposing the film.

Shabana tweeted, “Those who speak of banning #The Kerala Story are as wrong as those who wanted to ban Aamir Khan’s #Laal Singh Chaadha. Once a film has been passed by the Central Board of Film Certification nobody has the right to become an extra constitutional authority.” While reacting to her tweet, the Queen actor wrote, “This is a very valid point except for the fact that no one asked for a ban on LSC people just didn’t want to see it for many reasons, major reason was it was a remake of a very popular old Hollywood classic which most people had already seen…”

Shabana’s post came after the film based on forced religious conversion was pulled down from theatres in Tamil Nadu amid threats. Even Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan criticized the makers of the film, terming it as "propaganda" by “the Sangh parivar.” He claimed that the film has been deliberately made with the aim of communal polarisation and to spread hate propaganda against the state.

Pinarayi was quoted as saying, “They (Sangh Parivar) are trying to spread the politics of division through fake stories and movies. The Sangh Parivar is spreading such myths without any fact and evidence. The big lie that 32,000 women in Kerala converted to Islam and joined the Islamic State was what we saw in the trailer of the film. This fake story is the product of the Sangh Parivar's lie factory.”

Meanwhile, the Kerala Story stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani, and Sonia Balani in the lead roles. The film collected Rs 16 crore on the third day of its release and is expected to show growth in the coming days.
