Kangana Ranaut Summoned In Bathinda Court In Defamation Case Filed By Mahinder Kaur On Being Misidentified As 'Shaheen Bagh Dadi'
A local court in Bathinda has reportedly issued summons to actor Kangana Ranaut and ordered her to appear before the court on April 19. The recent development comes in light of the defamation case filed by Mahinder Kaur (73) over the defamatory tweet against her during the farmers’ agitation.

Mahinder Kaur’s advocate Raghuveer Singh Bahniwal said the trial had lasted for about 13 months and now the court had issued summons to Kangana and directed her to appear before the court, reported The Tribune.

Kaur had said that the actor made "false imputations and remarks" against her in a tweet by comparing her with a woman, saying she was the same "dadi" who was part of the Shaheen Bagh protest.

Kaur is reportedly a resident of Bahadurgarh Jandian village here.

The Bollywood actor had misidentified Kaur as ‘Shaheen Bagh dadi’ Bilkis Bano, the octogenarian who made headlines during the anti-CAA protests in 2019 in the Delhi neighbourhood of Shaheen Bagh.

In her complaint, Mohinder Kaur stated that because of the misleading post on the microblogging website, she suffered from grave mental tension, agony, harassment, humiliation, loss of reputation and defamation.

"By using such remarks, the actor lowered my reputation and prestige," Kaur had alleged in the complaint.

It also stated Kangana had not issued an apology on social media to her, and the other farmers. Kangana shared the “false tweet”, without any reasonable or probable cause.

She had retweeted the post with pictures of the two elderly women, including Bilkis Bano, and wrote that the "same Dadi" who featured in Time Magazine was "available in 100 rupees".
