Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has made a name for herself in the industry with her unabashed views and blunt comments. While it often makes her the target for naysayers, many of her fans also come out and support her views. She recently won hearts when, during a media interaction, she was asked about her views on the ongoing legalisation of same sex marriage in India. She spoke in the favour and filmmaker Apurva Asrani, who has worked on projects like Aligarh and Made In Heaven, lauded her for her bravery.

Apurva, who has been vocal about his support towards the same-sex marriage, took to Twitter to heap praises on Kangana for her bravery. Sharing a tweet with the actress’ view on the ongoing case, he lauded her for talking about marriage equality, when many mainstream celebrities have been shy to utter a word on it. He wrote, “A person 'cancelled' by the 'liberal' media has no right to an opinion right? Even if her statement is humane, brave & timely all at once? Kangana Ranaut speaks for #marriageequality. Something that  most movie stars have been shy of doing. In the video that is being shared on Twitter, the 36-year-old actress expresses how when people who are in love want to spend the rest of their lives together, no one has the right to comment on it. She had also taken to her Twitter to share her opinions on the case, where she had stressed on the fact that no matter any one’s gender or sexual preferences, one is always recognised by their work. 

On the work front, Kangana Ranaut will be seen in Emergency, her first solo directorial project. She will be essaying the role of India’s late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. A period political drama, the movie is based on the emergency period in India during the mid-70s, which was announced by the then PM. She also has RSVP Movies’ Tejas, Chandramukhi 2 and Manikarnika Returns: The Legend Of Didda in the pipeline.
