Karan Johar Submits His Resignation To MAMI Board; Social Media Backlash To Blame?
Reportedly, filmmaker and Dharma head honcho Karan Johar has put in his papers at MAMI. He has been part of the board for sometime but in the current scenario – raging debates on nepotism on social media and merciless troll attacks – Karan, it is believed, has tendered his resignation to the prestigious annual film festival. As you might have noticed, Karan has been keeping a low profile in recent times. After the severe backlash the filmmaker received post Sushant Singh Rajput’s tragic demise, he has not been active on social media.

In fact, he has unfollowed almost everyone on Twitter and has made his Instagram comments section limited. This comes in the wake of a raging debate on nepotism, sparked off after Sushant Singh Rajput ended his life on June 14. Many of the late actor’s social media followers believe, he took the drastic step after being ‘wronged’ by the industry that perpetrates Nepotism. As per a report in Pinkvilla, Karan has already sent across his resignation to the director, Smriti Kiran.

The report further states that it’s likely, the filmmaker is upset with the social media bashing and lack of support from his friends from the fraternity.

As per the report, the MAMI chairperson, Deepika Padukone tried her best to convince Karan Johar to stay on in his position and not end his association with MAMI but the filmmaker made it known that his decision is final.
