Kirti Kulhari Reacts On Actors Being Socially Responsible; Says, ‘Being A Public Figure Does Not Mean Public Property’
Kirti Kulhari reveals that she considers social responsibility of the actors as their burden. She said actors have their personal lives too and question-related to work are justified
Kirti Kulhari, who starred in films like Indu Sarkar, Mission Mangal and Uri: The Surgical Strike among others, recently poured her heart out. Kirti is currently gearing for Criminal Justice season 2 and the actress seems to be irked with the media asking celebrities questions about anything and everything. Kirti in her latest interview bared it all and said she considers social responsibility as a burden. She said she’s a public figure, not a public property who needs to answer questions related to country and society. Kirti added that she thinks she has only one responsibility and that is acting.
During her latest interview with Navbharat Times, when Kirti was asked what responsibility should an actor have towards the country and society, Kulhari said, “I consider it a burden when media personnel ask about opinions from actors on any issue of the country or society. I consider this social responsibility a burden. You and we are both humans, but to have an opinion on everything is not necessary. People are not able to separate us from our public lives and forget that a human being is standing in front of them.”
She further added that she considers her work as her biggest responsibility. She added, “I think my biggest responsibility is my acting because I call myself an actor. You can ask me how I am doing the work that I am doing. The answers to the questions related to my work ie acting are justified, I am responsible for the questions related to my work. I feel that the biggest social work I am doing is through my acting, the kind of characters I play, the kind of films I become a part of, so much is said in those films, so much is done in that it is not my responsibility to go ahead and answer anyone, and I should not have that responsibility either.”
Kulhari further said that the media should also give artists space as they have their personal life. She concluded, “What do I do in personal life, what do I not do, for whom do I take a stand, I do not take this pressure. Whatever I do, I should do it according to myself because I have my own personal life. The media should also give us this space. On the other hand, I also understand and know very well what it means to be a public figure. Being a public figure does not mean public property.
