Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be on cloud nine because his film Liar’s Dice is the official entry to the Oscars as confirmed by T Hariharan, the jury head of the Film Federation of India. The movie has travelled extensively in the film festival circuit and has fetched its actress Geetanjali Thapa a National Award this year.
The road drama, written and directed by Geetu Mohandas, stars Geetanjali and Nawazuddin in lead roles and deals with the issue of migration to cities. Its the story of a young mother from a remote village, whose husband goes missing when he leaves home in search of work.
Liars Dice had its world premiere at the 2013 Mumbai Film Festival in October 2013 and was also selected for screening at the Sundance Film Festival and International Film Festival Rotterdam. It has also won a special jury award at Sofia International Film Festival.
