Lockdown On Domestic Violence: Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma, Vidya Balan, Farhan Akhtar Join Hands; Appeal Citizens To Report Abuse At Home
Celebrities like Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma, Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar, Vidya Balan, Dia Mirza, Rohit Sharma, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Bose among many others have come together to ask the citizens of India to report the domestic violence cases. Reportedly, the lockdown phase has seen a sharp spike in domestic violence cases in India. Hence, starting a new initiative, celebs have come together and are appealing to people to report domestic violence if they are a survivor or have witnessed it at home or in the neighborhood. 

In the video, shared by Virat Kohli, celebs start by saying, “During the lockdown, there’s been a sharp increase in the domestic violence cases. Now is the time to stand up against this violence. To all the women we say, now is the time to stand up and break your silence. If you are a witness to domestic violence in your home, please report it. If you are witness to domestic violence in your neighborhood report it. If you are a survivor of this report it now. Let’s put a lockdown on domestic violence.” 

Karan Johar too shared the same video and captioned it, “I express my gratitude to the honorable Chief Minister @UddhavThackeray for this critical initiative! The cases of domestic violence have been rising rapidly across the country, and now is the time to stand up against it! #LockdownOnDomesticViolence #Dial100 @cmoMaharashtra”

Cricketer Ajinkya Rahane wrote, “Domestic violence is a serious issue. Privileged to be a part of this campaign to raise awareness about it. Help is always available to those in need and only a #Dial100 away. Let’s put a #LockdownOnDomesticViolence.”

Speaking about the same, Madhuri Dixit tweeted, “It's so disappointing to see a rise in the cases of domestic violence when we're fighting with a pandemic. Let's all put a #LockdownOnDomesticViolence and #Dial100 if we're aware of any such thing happening around us.
