Anupam Kher, on Thursday, revealed that actress Mahima Chaudhry has been diagnosed with breast cancer. He shared a video of him with Mahima where he asked her questions about the treatment and how she was feeling now. The Pardes actress was seen sporting a shaved head as she shared her story of courage and detailed her cancer journey. Mahima broke down in tears while revealing she lost her hair to the illness.
Calling Mahima a ‘hero,’ Anupam shared a video along with the heartfelt note revealing that he and Mahima are in the US to shoot for his 525th film ‘The Signature.’ The veteran actor wrote, “Story of @mahimachaudhry1 ‘s courage and Cancer: I called #MahimaChaudhry a month back from US to play a very important role in my 525th film #TheSignature. Our conversation turned to her discovering that she has #BreastCancer. What followed is in this candid conversation between us. Her attitude will give hope to so many women all over the world. In the clip, the actress revealed how she discovered her disease. Mahima mentioned that she had just gone for an annual check-up. The person who did her regular tests advised her to get this checked. Later she found out that there were very tiny cancer cells that needed to be removed. “They said you have to get a chemotherapy (done), and I started crying. And my sister was like ‘it’s treatable.’ She was like ‘why are you behaving like a 17th century woman?’ But then you are just so terrified of the word cancer, which is why I didn’t share it with my parents at first, because they are so vulnerable, especially my mom,” Mahima further said.
The video ended with Anupam Kher’s appearance and he showered heaps of praise on Mahima.
Meanwhile, Mahima has been away from Bollywood for five years. She was last seen in the 2016 film Dark Chocolate, which was based on the real-life murder of Sheena Bora, daughter of media barons Indrani Mukherjea and Peter Mukherjea.
