Nawazuddin Siddhiqui opened up about his struggling days and how he never left the hope of making it big in the industry even after doing small roles in movies for more than a decade

Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui is known for his versatile acting. He started his journey from doing theatres to becoming one of the most sought after actors today. It’s public knowledge that the actor had gone through a very rough patch to achieve his dreams one day. During a recent interview he opened up about his struggling days and how he never left the hope of making it big in the industry even after doing small roles in movies for more than a decade.

Talking ABP News, Nawaz recalled a time when he was working as a watchman from 9-5 so that he could earn money to sustain himself and then rehearsed from 6 pm at the theatres. He expressed how he had mortgaged the jewellery which he couldn’t get back as he had lost his job as a watchman after fainting while working. He shared, “Dhoop lagi thi toh main faint hoke gir gaya. Aur jitni baar bhi gira, owner ne dekh liya ittefaq se. Bole kis maare hue sipaahi ko leke aaye ho. Isko hatao. Fir main lene gaya deposit toh mana kar diya. Fans had always believed that the Gangs Of Wasseypur actor had come from a poor household. Dismissing the beliefs, he told the media publications that people have preconceived notions about how rich people and poor people look. He said, “Logon ka hai particular thought hai ki gareeb iss tarah ke hote hain, ameer iss tarah ke hote hain. Jaruri nahi jo tuxedo pehne uske paas bohot paisa ho aur jo kurta, payjama, dhoti pehen ke nikal raha ho wo gareeb ho. For the unversed, before starring as the lead in Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs Of Wasseypur franchise, the actor played smaller roles in movies like Munna Bhai MBBS, Sarfarosh, Kahaani, The Lunchbox,  and Talaash among many other movies. Recalling his struggling days, Nawaz shared that he did smaller roles for more than a decade before finally getting his break. 


Sharing how he never lost the hope or got depressed by the lack of opportunities, the actor told ABP News, “Mann kayi baar toota par humare saamne koi option toh tha nahi. Maaro-jeeyo, ro-dho, karna toh yahi hai. Humare saare aise unsuccessful logon ka jamawda tha, toh chalo iska bhi nahi hua, mera bhi, koi baat nahi. Toh yeh ek sahara mila ki kisi ke pass bhi kaam nahi hai. Humare group me se dheere-dheere establish hona shuru hue. Jaise Rajpal, Vijay Raaz aur humare seniors the Saurabh Shukla aur Manoj Bajpayee. Ek cheez rehti thi ki humare saath theater karne wala banda jab wahan ja sakta hai toh hum bhi jaa sakte hain. Ek aisa hi confidence de diya tha inhone.”

On the work front, last seen in Tiger Shroff starrer Heropanti 2 as the antagonist Laila, Nawazuddin Siddiquihas movies like Haddi, Noorani Chehre, Tiku Weds Sheru, and Jogira Sara Ra Ra in the pipeline.
