Mukesh Ambani Takes The Mami Baton From Anil
Till 2013, the film festival used to be sponsored by the business magnates brother Anil Ambanis Reliance Entertainment
The war between the Ambani brothers has now moved into the world of films now.
SpotboyE.com has exclusively learnt that Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio is the official sponsor of the Mumbai Film Festival, organised by MAMI, this year. According to the contract, Reliance Jio will be on board for 3 years.
Now, the interesting bit is that until 2013, MAMI used to be sponsored by Reliance Entertainment that is headed by Anil Ambani. However, Reliance Entertainment pulled out of the film festival last year after sponsoring it for straight five years.
Buzz was, the festival may not be held at all due to its lack of sponsors and funds
. Finally, the film fraternity had stepped in to see that Mumbai retains the cultural event. Members of the industry like Aamir Khan, Rajkumar Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Zoya and Farhan Akhtar had lent a helping hand. Even industrialists had lent financial help. And the curtains rose on the film festival as scheduled in October.
Now, with Reliance Jio filling in as the prime sponsor, film buffs can expect a grand outing this year.
