Bollywood actor and a Kerala resident Prashant Narayan, who has worked in films like Murder 2, PM Narendra Modi and Issaq among others, has been arrested over his alleged involvement in a cheating case, revealed a Kerela Police official to IANS. The police officer in question is Inspector A. Prathap, who seized the 50-year-old actor, along with his Bengali wife Shona, from Mumbai and the two are now in police custody.
Inspector Prathap, in a conversation with IANS, revealed, “The case pertains to cheating. The complainant is Thomas Panicker, who was the producer of a Malayalam film, in which Narayanan acted in 2017. After the film the two became close and Panicker was told that his wife’s father had a company in Mumbai and if he invested in it, he would be made a Director. Panicker invested Rs 1.20 crore and after that, he came to know he was cheated. He then filed the complaint.”
Further, Prathap revealed that he, along with a seven-member Kerala Police Team, headed to Mumbai and after an investigation of three days; they got their hands on the accused Prashant Narayan. The actor and his wife have been brought to Kerala on a transit warrant. The Thalassery Additional Judiciary Magistrate court has granted that the couple to stay under judicial remand till September 20.
Prashant Narayan, who pursued his education and theatre career from Delhi, moved to Mumbai in the early nineties. He has starred in over 50 films, including Hindi and South Indian.
