My Next Film With SRK Is Not A Remake Of Any Film
Rohit Shetty hasn't gone wrong till date. But the pressure on him is mounting as he sets the stage for his next project starring Shah Rukh Khan. A few days ago, SpotboyE.com had a brief chat with the director. Excerpts:
You don’t seem nervous in Khatron Ke Khiladi 6 unlike the last season when you took over from Akshay Kumar...
Nervous is an understatement. I was scared then. My predecessors Akshay and Priyanka (Chopra) are superstars. I am just a director. Theres no comparison.
You have been quite busy with KKK's shooting . How and when did you get time to work on your next film (starring SRK) which you start shooting soon?
My writers and assistants travel with me wherever I go. We have brainstorming sessions every day after my TV show's shoot gets over. My company is like a factory, work is always in progress.I am a bit cracked.
How did the SRK film happen?
I had narrated this film as an idea to SRK when we were working on Chennai Express. I reworked everything after he said 'yes'.
Why?
I dont have a star cast in mind when I develop an idea. I always tweak the script after I finalise the actors.
Buzz is, the film is a remake of either Hum or Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi or Mr And Mrs Smith...
I have done remakes in the past and never shied away from admitting to it. Why would I hide it now?
Kajol is paired opposite SRK...
I can't comment on that.
Or then, it would be Aishwarya Rai/ Katrina Kaif...

After the SRK film, you remake Ram Lakhan. Abhishek Bachchan plays Ram and Ranveer Singh plays Lakhan...
I know Ranveers name is making the rounds for the longest time. All I can say at this point is that the film will have young boys.
Would you show the script of the new Ram Lakhan to the original Ram Lakhan's director Subhash Ghai?
Let's see. We might give him a reading when we finish writing it. Its going to be my interpretation. Some characters from the original may or may not be there in my version.
Are you planning something with your close friend Ajay Devgn?
I want to make Golmaal 4 with him. But I want to better Golmaal 3s record with that. So, I need a kick-ass script else the brand Golmaal will get diluted. Let's see how it goes.
Hasn't Golmaal 4 met with a roadblock because the film's producers Ashtavinayak have run into legal tangles?
Ashtavinayak is facing legal issues which are beyond any of us. We would have helped them if we could have.
