Actor Nafisa Ali was detected with Stage 3 Cancer back in 2018. However, after defeating it, she is back to what she loves doing the most, shooting for movies. The actor is coming back onscreen for Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The movie stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, with Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi and Jaya Bachchan in pivotal roles. Post her recovery, Ali says she feels healthy and wonderful now. ‘My cancer recovery and the coronavirus-triggered lockdown had boxed me into a quiet space and I was mainly by myself. Sometimes, it would get lonely and depressing,’ she reminisces.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, her family members had advised her not to go to Mumbai for shooting as her immunity is low. Due to this, she had to turn down plenty of offers. She told Free Press Journal, “So, I turned down many offers. But now that I am fully vaccinated, I need to step out. I love life and people, and I want to be surrounded with affection, creativity and passion. Cinema is my great passion.” Talking about her post recovering, she said, “I feel well and healthy. The doctors have given me the all-clear, but they can’t give you a 100 per cent clean chit before five years. I live in hope, I believe I can fly!”
As Nafisa is coming back onscreen and will be reuniting with his Life In A Metro co-star Dharmendra she warmly said, “Dharam and I are old friends, it was fun working with him.”
Earlier, Ali penned a note on her Instagram talking about her cancer. An excerpt of the note read, "I have been diagnosed with Leucoderma ... What is it? Quite similar to the skin condition “Vitiligo” –leucoderma is a skin disorder in which patches of skin tend to lose its natural colour.”
