Nawazuddin Siddiqui Was Approached To Play A Journalist In Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi starring Alia Bhatt in the title role is the much-awaited movie of 2022. Set to release on January 6, 2022, besides, Alia Bhatt, Seema Pahwa, Ajay Devgn, and Huma Qureshi also are part of the cast. According to a report, Nawazuddin Siddiqui too was considered to play one of the roles in the movie. As reported in Pinkvilla, the actor was approached for this period drama, unfortunately, things did not fall into place. The actor was approached to play a journalist in this SLB directorial.
As per report, things did not materialize due to date issues, report carried, “Nawazuddin Siddiqui was offered the role of a journalist in Gangubai Kathiawadi. Both the actor and the maker were keen to collaborate too, however it didn’t work out because of the date issues.” The versatile actor was recently nominated for Emmy Award in Best Performance in actor category for his film, Serious Man. He told us, “Working with director Sudhir Mishra and playing the role of Ayyan Mani in Serious Men was a dream come true for me and the International Emmy nomination is a validation of all the hard work we poured into the film. I feel honoured to portray meaningful stories that are being recognised globally .”
After the Maharashtra government gave to nod to cinemas in the state to reopen from October 22, 2021, filmmakers immediately announced the release dates of their films kept on hold due to COVID-19. Alia taking to Instagram announced the release of Gangubai Kathiawadi. She wrote in the caption, “Bringing to you a part of my heart & soul, #GangubaiKathiawadi releasing in cinemas near you on 6th January, 2022.”
Alia had commenced the shoot in December 2019 and wrapped up the shoot in June 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic that delayed the shooting schedule. Alia also has Darlings, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, RRR, Brahmastra and Jee Le Zaraa in the pipeline.
