No Jwala Gutta In Azharuddin Biopic
The former cricketer's life story will be devoid of this gossip angle

This biopic is not going all the way. While it is still not known where it culminates, the news from Balaji Motion Pictures is that India's badminton star Jwala Gutta will not find any mention in Ekta Kapoor's biopic on India's former cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin.

For those who've come in late, Azhar's relationship with Jwala was said to be the main reason why his 14-year marriage with Sangeeta Bijlani hit the rocks.

A source close to the film says, "Azhar had repeatedly denied that he was dating Jwala. He had rubbished all such reports terming them as baseless, fabricated and in bad taste. Why rake up the speculation again?"

Rewind. Azhar had then categorically told a section of the media: "These are planted stories and motivated by people, who are against me in the Badminton Association of India. I think they should look into their homes first before casting aspersions on others and make such allegations. Jwala is a very good player and she is a great prospect for the country. She has been doing well and will win many medals for the country in future. So I just want to request everybody to just leave her alone and not get her into this cheap controversy."

One wonders if Jwala's omission from the biopic was one condition which Azhar laid before giving permission to his friend Anthony D'souza (the film's director) to put his life on celluloid.

Emraan Hashmi plays Azhar in the film which is expected to go on floors next month.
