Not Ranbir Kapoor, But Kartik Aaryan To Romance Alia Bhatt In Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai?
After Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Inshallah got scrapped, there have been reports suggesting that the director is working on another project Gangubai and has roped in Alia Bhatt to play the lead role. While earlier it was earlier reported that Ranbir Kapoor is in talks with the filmmaker, rumours suggest that Kartik Aaryan will be cast opposite Alia
It has been a month now since Salman Khan announced that his film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali Inshallah has been postponed, however he would still see his fans on Eid. Later, there was an announcement that Inshallah, which was supposed to star Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt in lead roles, has been shelved. There was a lot of excitement around Inshallah due to the fresh pairing of Alia and Salman on screen and also because this would have been Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Salman Khan’s collaboration after almost two decades. However, since that film got shelved, there have been reports suggesting that the filmmaker is working on his next project Gangubai which will star Alia in the lead role.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is reportedly working on a biopic of Gangubai Kothewali, the legendary brothel runner who changed the face of Mumbai’s Kamathipura. Earlier, a report in Pinkvilla suggested that Ranbir Kapoor might be roped in for a small yet important role in the film. It also revealed that while Alia will be the leading lady, there are some really interesting male characters, one of which would be Ranbir and that he has been approached by the filmmaker. But looks like that might not be the case. According to Mumbai Mirror, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety actor Kartik Aaryan had been snapped outside Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s office and is reportedly in the running to play the male lead in Gangubai.
While nothing has been confirmed, Kartik Aaryan being roped in would mean we get to see Alia Bhatt and Kartik Aaryan sharing screen space for the first time! If the rumours are true, this would also be Kartik Aaryan’s first time working with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
