On 4 Years Of Masaan, Richa Chadha Reveals, “Neeraj Had Written Devi’s Part Keeping Me In Mind”

As Richa Chadha, Vicky Kaushal and Neeraj Ghaywan celebrate four years of their memorable collaboration, Chadha fondly remembers the film as an opportunity of a lifetime. Masaan was written for her who would have thought that the heartbreaking story of Devi and Deepak would resonate for so long after Masaan had released. The film found a new surge of love on OTT platforms upon its release and has over time achieved a cult status amongst fans. She told a section of media, “The film was offered to me in 2012 immediately after Wasseypur;  Neeraj was an assistant on the film and that’s how we got to know each other better. Neeraj had written this part keeping me in mind. It’s the highest form of compliment for an actor when they are offered a tailor made part, when the maker has envisioned you in it even before there’s anything on paper. It will always be my most special film.”

This morning, Vicky Kaushal too shared a long post on social media as Masaan compeleted 4 years. Captioning the picture, he wrote, “For days before we started filming Masaan, I’d sit here for hours at a stretch, quietly watching bodies getting burnt one after the other... dark, fair, beautiful, ugly, rich, poor, fat, thin... All of them turning into the same colour of ash. Leaving behind, just their deeds, teaching me the most important lesson of my life. My job was to put life into Deepak, what eventually happened was the other way around.

Four years back, I got to ask you all a question... “अब तो हम friend हो गए, हैं ना?” ...Answer to which, I keep getting till date. Here’s to 4 years of our beautiful friendship. I cherish it everyday of my life. Thank You. #4yearsofMasaan"
