Buzz is, Onir has been sacked as the director of Life In A Metro’s (2007) sequel, which is being produced by Anurag Basu.

Anurag had announced the project in 2014 and he roped in his filmmaker friend Onir to helm it. But now, SpotboyE has it that the friends have gone their separate ways, as far as the project is concerned.

While writing the original, Anurag had also roughly penned a sequel to it. Once on board in December 2014, Onir was asked to rework the script. Now, a source close to Anurag insists that he’s not happy with Onir’s ‘dark’ version.

“Anurag wants a commercial and a lighter vein to the story. He doesn’t want it to be too dark and edgy, because that way, it won’t connect much with the youth,” the source explains.

However, Onir denied being sacked from the project. The filmmaker told SpotboyE, “I don’t know what is happening to Life In A Metro 2. Anurag hasn’t been in touch with me ever since he started work on Jagga Jasoos. He has no time and even I am occupied with two projects. Veda is half-way through, and there is another film which will be announced soon. I don’t know which script has been rejected by Anurag. All I can say is, I am not doing Life In A Metro 2 as of now.”

Well, let’s see who finally helms the project. Maybe Anurag himself will wear the director’s hat.
