Shekhar Kapur’s Paani, which he has been planning for the last 14 years, is finally set to roll in June 2015. The film was expected to go on floors in the first half of the year, but has now been postponed for the umpteenth time to June. The films hero Sushant Singh Rajput has already begun to work on his hair and body to suit the character. The film requires an equal number of faces from Bollywood and Hollywood.
The directors first choice to play the lead in his film was Hrithik Roshan, who opted out of it after waiting for a long spell for the film to roll. Eventually, when Aditya Chopra and Yash Raj Films joined forces with Shekhar, Sushant Singh Rajput and Ayesha Kapur were brought on board as the lead pair. Buzz is that Grease star John Travolta was also offered a meaty part in the movie revolving around a power struggle against the backdrop of a global water crisis in 2050.
According to a source close to the project, “We have been in prep-up mode for a year now, but since the film is now slated to roll only in June 2015, most technicians, writers and creative crew have taken up temporary jobs with other productions. Costumes and looks of the characters have already been sealed. The crew will now unite only when the film is ready to roll.”
