Pandit Jasraj Funeral: Late Music Legend's Family, Friends Break Down As They Pay Last Respects At His Antim Darshan
It was on August 17 that the legendary Shri Pandit Jasraj breathed his last in New Jersey, at the age of 90. The Indian classical vocalist has made massive contributions to the music industry and is also the recipient of some spectacular honours. Two days after his demise, Pandit Jasraj's mortal remains were sent to his home in Mumbai's Versova. Today, an 'antim darshan' of the legendary musician was held at his residence, in the presence of his family members and well-wishers that came to pay him last respects. A couple of pictures from the same have surfaced on social media and they show Pandit Jasraj's family breaking down as they bid him farewell.

Among others, music composer duo Lalit and Jatin Pandit, ghazal singer Anup Jalota and actress Rukhsar visited the late musician's residence. Pandit Jasraj's wife Madhura, daughter Durga and son Sharang, too, were present. As per the family's media coordinator Pritam Sharma, Pandit Jasraj's last rites are slated to take place at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle. The legendary classical singer will be cremated with state honours and is going to be given a 21-gun salute, added Sharma.

In his musical career, spanning over 80 years, Pandit Jasraj was felicitated with a lot of honours and prestigious accolades, including the Padma Shri in 1975, Padma Bhushan in 1990 and Padma Vibhushan in 2000.

In an interview with Bombay Times, his granddaughter Shweta Pandit told, "We spoke almost every week in the last six months during the pandemic, since this was the one time when we were all at home. When the pandemic struck, he was in his New Jersey home with his students and he had to stay put there."
