Pooja Bhatt Questions: ‘Anyone Care About People Who Use Drugs To Make Pain Of Living Go Away?’ Amid Debate Over Alleged Drug Use In Bollywood
Ever since the drug angle surfaced in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, several people have made sensational claims about alleged drug use in Bollywood. Kangana Ranaut alleged that 99 percent of Bollywood uses drugs, while Ravi Kishan also said that drug addiction exists in film industry too. Jaya Bachchan spoke in support of Bollywood during the Monsoon Session in Parliament, and stated that the image of the entertainment industry is being tarnished because of a few people. Amid all this, Pooja Bhatt has raised some questions, asking if anyone cares about the economically weaker sections of the society, those who give in to drug abuse to make the pain of living go away.

Pooja Bhatt asked if anyone’s interested in speaking of their rehabilitation, and said that in these challenging times, people need to help each other, as opposed to vilifying them. “Does anyone care about people who live on the ultimate fringe of society, who use drugs to make the pain of living go away? The ones who are too battered & broken to chase dreams but chase substances amidst much poverty & squalor? Anyone interested in their rehabilitation?” read Pooja Bhatt’s tweet.

While replying to another user’s tweet agreeing with her views, Pooja further wrote that COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc and as a coping mechanism, people will turn to intoxicants. However, instead of vilifying them, we need to help each other heal.

“And countless others.. from various walks of life. COVID-19 is going to leave millions unemployed. The pandemic has already played havoc. Depression is on the rise.People will turn to intoxicants to cope with the sheer ordeal of living. We need to help each other heal not vilify,” read Pooja Bhatt’s tweet.
