Pornography Case: Raj Kundra, Poonam Pandey, Sherlyn Chopra Get Anticipatory BAIL By Supreme Court After FIR Was Registered Against Them For Making Adult Videos
Last month, Maharashtra Police filed a charge sheet against businessman Raj Kundra, Sherlyn Chopra, and Poonam Pandey along with others for distributing porn films to OTT platforms for monetary gains. It was reported that they all shot obscene and adult videos in two suburban five-star hotels, and those porn films were circulated on various OTT platforms for financial gain. Now, as per the latest update on this case, Raj, Sherlyn, Poonam, and others have been granted anticipatory bail by Supreme Court. 

As reported by Hindustan Times, On Tuesday, Shilpa Shetty’s husband and both the actresses got a big relief from the apex court. In a statement, the bench of Justices comprised K M Joseph and B V Nagarathna said they directed all the accused to cooperate in the investigation. The bench said, “Having heard the counsel for the parties, we are of the view that the petitioners may be granted anticipatory bail.” Senior advocate R Basant who appeared in the court for one of the accused, in the charge sheet mentioned that the accused are cooperating with the investigation. Earlier, Raj Kundra was granted interim protection from arrest by Supreme Court in the case. Last year, a separate charge sheet followed by a supplementary charge sheet in the pornographic racket case was filed by Mumbai Police Crime Branch. The case came to light after a raid was conducted in the Madh Island bungalow in February 2021. The Cyber Police claimed Raj was involved in producing and distributing obscene videos on certain websites. Even Poonam Pandey was accused of developing her own mobile App where she got her videos shot and uploaded and circulated them with the help of Kundra's company.

Reportedly, Raj Kundra was booked under Indian Penal Code sections 420 (cheating), 292, and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays) and sections of the Information Technology Act and Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act. Even Sherlyn and Poonam were named as co-accused in the FIR.
