We hope sanity prevails and Ujda Chaman and Bala do not release on the same date, November 8. As things stand today, the hot buzz in the industry is that the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Bala and the Sunny Singh starrer Ujjda Chamman may hit the screens on the same date. Both producers, Dinesh Vijjan (Bala) and Kumar Mangat (Ujda Chaman) have got extremely tense realising that their films deal with the same subject- premature balding.
Ujda Chaman has set its date on November 8. Now, we hear that Vijjan is moving heaven and hell to prepone Bala by a week (Bala was earlier being planned for a November 15 release and prior to that, it was November 22). Goes without saying that the industry in the know is laughing at what may happen if Vijjan and Mangat stick to their guns.
We have had several cases of films clashing on the same date an eating into each other's business. Yahan toh subject bhi similar hai. Of course the story, screenplay (basically the treatment) will be different in the two stables, yet it cannot be taken off one's mind that the issue dealt in both films is at least similar.
Amar Kaushik's Bala tells the story of Ayushmann Khurrana, who is balding prematurely and how he copes with the situation. The film also narrates Bala's relationship with two women played by Yami Gautam and Bhumi Pednekar respectively.
Ujda Chaman, directed by Abhishek Pathak, is the story of Sunny Singh who suffers from premature balding. Sunny has to bear a lot of tease and humiliation by colleagues, boss, family and friends.Sunny's life plunges into despair when an astrologer tells his kith and kin that he will never get married if he does not tie the knot in his 30th year. The film stars Maanvi Gagroo as the female lead.
