Actor-turned-politician Paresh Rawal has given some remarkable performances in the past. From his comic timing to his natural acting, he is one of the finest in the Indian Film Industry. His filmography boasts of some of the hit films like Hera Pheri, Oh My God, Aankhen and many more. His latest films for which he received critical acclaim are Sanju and URI: The Surgical Strike. Now, another feather has got attached to his hat. He has now become the chief of National School of Drama.

Union tourism and culture minister Prahlad Singh Patel took to his Twitter handle to announce that Paresh Rawal has been appointed as the Chief of National School of Drama by the president Ram Nath Kovind. He also congratulated him and stated that the students will benefit from the actor's talent.

Check out Prahlad Singh Patel's tweet below. To news agency PTI, Paresh Rawal responded to this new development and said, "It will be challenging but fun. I will do my best because this is a field I know very well."

Apart from the great filmography, Paresh Rawal is also the recipient of the prestigious National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor (1994) and Padma Shri (2014) for his contribution to the world of cinema. The actor is said to succeed acting NSD chairman Arjun Deo Charan. He is expected to serve as the Chief of NSD for four years.


The actor was last in news as he tweeted saying that actors should be called 'entertainers' and not 'heroes'. He tweeted, "We Should Start Calling Actors As 'Entertainers' And Our Army & Police As 'Heroes'  for Our Next Generation To Know The Actual Meaning Of Real Heroes !!!"
