Priyanka Chopra Jonas And Lara Dutta Have A Mini Reunion As They Celebrate 21 Years Of Their Friendship; Latter's Daughter Saira Was Also In Attendance
Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Lara Dutta, who met 21 years ago for the first time at the Miss India 2000 pageant, had a mini reunion recently.
It’s been 21 years since India celebrated a golden year in the pageantry world. Six years before that, India witnessed a rare double victory when Sushmita Sen and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan won Miss Universe 1994 and Miss World 1994 respectively. But it was in 2000 that India took it a notch higher. All three winners of Miss India that year - Lara Dutta, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Dia Mirza - went on to win their respective international pageants, giving a rare triple victory to India.
While Lara won Miss Universe 2000, Priyanka became Miss World 2000. Dia won the Miss Asia Pacific title.
Ever since the competition, Priyanka and Lara have been pitted against each other. Also, because both of them also made their debut opposite Akshay Kumar in the same film, Andaaz. The two beauty queens turned actresses, however, have always praised each other and raved about their friendship.
And recently, the two of them met up to celebrate 21 years of their friendship, along with Lara’s daughter Saira. Putting up a picture from their meeting, Priyanka wrote on Instagram, “21 years and counting… friendships that can pick up at any given time… @larabhupathi and her most shining star. Saira you’re definitely your mum’s daughter. Adore you. So much love for these ladies. And so many memories.”
The two actresses first met at the Miss India competition, which was then organised by the 9X Media Managing Director Pradeep Guha. The media mogul recently passed away succumbing to cancer and when these two ladies met recently, they also remembered their first mentor in showbiz, as Priyanka said, “Also Missed you #PraddepGuha.”
While the Miss India reunion seemed a bit incomplete without Dia there, the actress did share her joy in the comments section. She was all hearts for her fellow beauty queens, as she gushed, “So glad you girls met.”
It’s been 18 years since Priyanka and Lara appeared together on screen in Andaaz. The two were again seen in Billu, although not together. And after seeing this reunion pic, we can say for sure that some friendships overcome the test of time and we can’t wait for these two powerhouses of talent to appear together on screen once again!
