When Priyanka Chopra Jonas walked the red carpet for Grammys 2020, many heads turned- some sad WOW, some said HOW and other said, Get out of that Ralph Russo gown NOW! What did I feel about it? Well, I was not mighty impressed with actress' choice of gown and it had nothing to do with the excessive skin show. The outfit just didn't complement Priyanka as much, and that's about it. It could have been any outfit for that matter, with a high-neck, full length but not suited her, and the opinion would have been just the same.
Which gets me to Wendell Rodricks' statement on PeeCee. He said there is a "certain age" to wear that sort of a gown? No, Mr! There is no age to wear that. A JLo at the age of 50 can rock the same outfit which a Priyanka at 37 can and vice versa. So, age definitely has nothing to do with it. And boy, both the ladies did it with utmost confidence and grace.
Now, coming to his point where Rodricks said, "men with bellies don't wear tight tees". Agreed! Maybe they should not, but if they find themselves comfortable in it, then why not? If they are confident enough and are okay with the TRIVIAL comments people around them will make, then why not? Why do we have to judge a person's choice of outfit on the basis of his/her body type or AGE in this case!
Rodricks also says that not everything is about body-shaming and sexism and for a change, I totally agree with him on that. Yes, there are a couple of times when we as women do take things to the feminist corner, without it really being required to do so. But how does it justify him telling the actress that she should not wear a body baring outfit just because she is 37? It's time when we start broadening our horizon and start crediting people for their accomplishments than scrutinizing them on baseless things. Wendell Rodricks, how about just apologizing for making a loose remark, instead of defending it in an even more disgraceful way.
