As India launched a nationwide vaccination drive against COVID-19 today, Priyanka Chopra Jonas took to her social media and congratulated the authorities, medical and health teams and expressed her gratefulness to frontline heroes

It’s almost been 10 months since the lockdown in India started due to the COVID-19 pandemic and finally there’s some good news related to vaccines. The vaccines in India have been rolled out starting from today and everyone took to Twitter to hail the huge vaccination drive that has started in the country. Priyanka Chopra expressed her views congratulating the authorities, medical and health teams and thanking the frontline heroes for their immense contribution.

Earlier UNICEF India had tweeted about the drive saying, “A big moment for India as it starts the #LargestVaccineDrive today! Health workers are the first to receive the #COVID19 vaccine across India. #TogetherAgainstCOVID19.”Priyanka Chopra, replying to the tweet herself tweeted, “Bravo India! Congratulations to Indian authorities, medical & health teams for starting off the massive Covid vaccination drive. Forever grateful to our frontline heroes who have been risking their lives this past year to save others.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the vaccination programme on Saturday, and urged people to show the same patience for the COVID-19 immunisation drive that they had shown in fighting the Coronavirus pandemic. Sanitation worker Manish Kumar became the first person in India to get vaccinated against COVID-19 on Saturday.


Earlier in the day, as  AIIMS Director Dr. Randeep Guleria received COVID-19 vaccine shot at AIIMS, Delhi, Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut shared that she couldn’t wait for the COVID-19 vaccine. Sharing the video of the doctor getting vaccinated, she wrote on her Twitter handle, ‘Wonderful!! Can’t wait’.
